Brows by Generation: What Gen Z, Millennials & Beyond Are Choosing and Why

2000s brows

Getting brows done and doing brows are more than hair and pigment. They’re personality, style, expression. At Perfetto Brows we recognise that what one generation loves may differ from the next. We see clients from every age group walk through our doors teens, mums, businesswomen, creatives, retirees. And one thing is clear: brows are generational.
Different age groups gravitate toward different shapes, densities and finishes… and it’s honestly beautiful to see how personal brows can be.

Here’s a warm, realistic breakdown of what each generation tends to love — and how we tailor every pair of brows to the person in the chair, not the trend on TikTok.

Gen Z (born ~1997-2012)

  • How they like their brows:
Gen Z is all about effortless but intentional. Think soft, fluffy, lifted fronts with a clean tail. They love structure without looking “done”.

    Common requests we hear:

    • “Can you keep the front soft?”

    • “I want them full but still natural.”

    • “I don’t want them to look drawn on.”

    How we deliver:
We build texture, keep the fronts airy, and lift the brows in a way that still looks like their brows, just better. Hybrid dye and or nano strokes are favourites for this age group because they enhance without overpowering.

    Millennials (born ~1981-1996)

They remember when ultra-thin brows were in (hello early 2000s).

  • How they like their brows:
Millennials want fullness with polish. They lived through the thin-brow era, so now they value balance: not too thick, not too thin, but beautifully defined.

    Common requests:

    • “I want them full but shaped.”

    • “Nothing blocky, please.”

    • “Can we clean them up and lift them?”

    How we deliver:
We combine precision brow mapping with soft definition. Hybrid dye or Powder brows combined with Nano hair strokes (for cosmetic tattooing) are popular because they create a clean, structured brow that still looks soft and modern.

Gen X & Boomers (born ~before 1981)

80s brows
  • How they like their brows:
This group generally wants refinement, symmetry and subtle enhancement. Brows naturally thin out with age, so they often look for ways to restore shape and fullness without going too dark.

    Common concerns:

    • “Will the colour be too strong?”

    • “Can we fill in the gaps but still keep it natural?”

    • “I just want to look fresher.”

    How we deliver:
We focus on lifting the brows to open the eyes, softening asymmetry, blending tones that suit grey or transitioning hair, and creating a youthful but natural frame. Powder brows combined with Nano hair strokes to create the natural hypo-realistic natural brow look or Hybrid dye is popular for who can’t commit to semi-permanent yet.
Usually they take home a growth serum and book for keratine treatment to repair the hair.
